The heads are cocked alertly and the plumage is picked out in bright enamels against the iron-red head and breast feathers.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ede Gournay figurines are entirely made and decorated by hand in Jingdezhen, China, using centuries-old porcelain-making techniques. Each is modelled in clay, then moulded and sculpted in porcelain; the artisan's finger-press marks can often be seen inside the piece.
