Famille Rose Parrot Figurine - Pair

The Qianlong period (1736–1795) design for this pair of famille rose palette parrots is thought most likely to date from circa 1760. Each bird is finely modelled in opposing but not symmetrical form, perched on speckled-glazed rockwork with one leg raised and claws closed tightly. The heads are cocked alertly and the plumage is picked out in bright enamels against the iron-red head and breast feathers.

de Gournay figurines are entirely made and decorated by hand in Jingdezhen, China, using centuries-old porcelain-making techniques. Each is modelled in clay, then moulded and sculpted in porcelain; the artisan's finger-press marks can often be seen inside the piece. Glazes are applied with traditional mouth-operated airbrushes, and the decoration is painted by hand in enamels with fine-line brushstrokes, making each piece a unique work of art.

Made to order: This piece is available from stock and can also be made to order, fully or partially customised. Made-to-order pieces typically take 10–12 weeks from confirmation. Contact us to begin a commission.

Founded in London in 1986, de Gournay is renowned for hand-painted wallpapers, fabrics and porcelain inspired by 18th-century chinoiserie. Its porcelain is made entirely by hand at the brand's studio in Jingdezhen, China, the historic centre of porcelain production for over a thousand years. Every piece is shaped, painted and gilded by master artisans, with no transfers or decals, and can be customised in pattern, colour and personalisation.
